International Baccalaureate
Lakin Prep Academy is a Candidate School* for the Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes. Our school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Lakin Prep Academy believes is important for our students.
Lakin Prep Academy is proud to be a candidate school for both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). These programs foster the development of young learners into compassionate, curious, and engaged individuals who are prepared to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Grounded in inquiry-based learning, the PYP and MYP cultivate a community of globally minded, future-ready students. Learners are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and make meaningful connections across subject areas. As they explore real-world issues, students build essential skills, deepen their understanding, and take action that matters.
As part of our commitment to international-mindedness, all students in kindergarten through seventh grade receive instruction in Spanish, expanding their intercultural awareness and communication skills from an early age.
The IB mission is “to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who contribute to a more peaceful world through mutual respect and international-mindedness.” At Lakin Prep, this mission comes to life through our focus on student voice, choice, and agency. Students engage in relevant and rigorous learning experiences that promote personal growth, social responsibility, and academic excellence.
IB World Schools share a unifying vision: a dedication to delivering a high-quality international education that challenges, inspires, and prepares learners to make a difference. This vision aligns seamlessly with our district’s mission “to create high quality, comprehensive, and success-oriented learning, and leading opportunities for everyone in our schools.”
We are committed to empowering students through voice and choice, making learning both relevant and meaningful. Learners engage in intellectually challenging tasks that promote conceptual understanding, deepen content knowledge, build essential skills, and support personal and interpersonal development. We prioritize strong relationships with our students, helping them develop into adaptable global citizens who collaborate, communicate with purpose, and take informed, responsible action in the world.
